Key Features

LD-1061 is one of the most widely used classic dispersants in solvent-based coatings, thanks to its excellent dispersing performance. It is particularly effective for high-performance yellow and red organic pigments, delivering outstanding transparency.

For certain heavily surface-treated pigments, LD-1061 may exhibit reduced effectiveness due to poor adsorption. In such cases, switching to non-surface-treated pigments of the same grade often yields significantly better results.

LD-1061 is recommended for industrial coatings such as automotive refinish paints and wood coatings. It can also be added post-dispersion to fine-tune batch-to-batch variations—this requires slow addition under high-shear mixing conditions.

Through steric hindrance, LD-1061 effectively de-flocculates pigments. It imparts uniform charge to pigment particles, thereby preventing co-flocculation between pigments with differing surface charges. This results in smaller, stable pigment aggregates, which enhance gloss, color strength, transparency, and hiding power. Additionally, LD-1061 reduces viscosity and improves flow and leveling, enabling higher pigment loading.

Suitable applications include a broad range of industrial coatings, anti-corrosive coatings, automotive refinish paints, and motorcycle coatings.
