How should the leveling agent be used correctly in waterborne coatings?

Due to the relatively high viscosity of the water-based coating system, the surface tension of the coating film is greatly different, and defects such as orange peel and shrinkage cavities are likely to occur, which affects the mirror effect. The addition of leveling agent can reduce the surface tension of the coating, prolong the flow time, improve the leveling property, enhance the scratch resistance, anti-sticking, and minimize the flaw of the surface; the domestic good water-based coating leveling agent has excellent Mobility and leveling. Nonionic properties are not affected by the pH of the system. Features high temperature resistance, gloss enhancement, defoaming, recoatability, low surface tension, wetting agent, dispersant (added before pigment grinding). Its excellent dispersion properties help to wet and disperse the pigments in the formulation. There is no adverse effect on the gloss of the formulated product. It can be added during the production process or added later. It should be added directly at the time of use or diluted with a suitable solvent. It is best to carry out a gradient test to determine the optimum amount before use. When diluted to 10% with water, it is added directly to the aqueous coating.

The leveling agent is generally used in an amount of 0.1% to 0.2%, preferably about 0.3%. When the defoaming agent is excessive, in order to overcome the shrinkage cavities, the amount of the leveling agent may even exceed 1%, which depends on the specific The situation will be fixed.
